What I’ve Been Doing To Stay Balanced

Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope your week is starting off on the right foot. Here in the Northern hemisphere it’s the first day of spring, it’s sunny outside and I am motivated to share with you all some happy and healthy life tips.

You may be reading the title and wondering what I mean by ‘balance’. Well let me break it down for you. To me balance means a healthy, happy and fulfilling life. These three things can mean different things to different people, but to me they mean a way of living a stress-free and positive day-to-day life.

Here are 5 things I do regularly, or as often as I can, to keep myself balanced.

  • Exercising

Yes this sounds obvious, yes this sounds like every other person right now telling you to work on your fitness, but if everyone is saying it, it must be true, right? In this case it is true. Being active and exercising regularly is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I have been working out every single day for the past three weeks now. I can see and feel a difference. Overall I have more energy, I am craving more healthy foods, I am motivated to keep exercising. Endorphins are your friends.

Exercising isn’t just about losing weight, it’s about getting your blood pumping, keeping your heart healthy and energizing your body.

  • Eating Healthy

I am not a pure organic healthy eater every single day, but sometimes I listen to my body and I know I just need to eat a huge amount of healthy foods. I love making a big stir fry type of meal with all the vegetables in the fridge, quinoa and some hot sauce to top it off. Yum!

  • Reading

Having the time to sit down with a good book is something I’ve always loved. It relaxes me, get my brain working and is something I simply really enjoy doing.

  • Spending Time with People I Love

After a stressful day, one thing that will always put a smile on my face is spending time with the people in my life that mean the most to me. Going out for supper with friends, a night in on the couch with my mom, a chat or FaceTime sesh with a far-away bud; any one of these things just makes me so happy and brings my stress levels down.

  • Yoga and Meditation

Going to a yoga class or just stretching out at home is one of my favourite things to do if I need to relax and get centred. Meditation, on the other hand, is something I have not fully gotten into yet, but I am so willing to start meditating on a daily basis. I tried a five minute meditation the other day and I was amazed by how I felt afterwards. From what I have read and researched about meditation, I want to try it fully myself and reap all the wonderful benefits.

 

There you go everyone, a few things that I try to incorporate in my life that help me be more relaxed, healthy and balanced.
